Welcome to Invest in Kids and the exciting launch of The Imagination Library in Canada! In partnership with Dolly Parton’s Dollywood Foundation, we are making this wonderful program available to all communities across Canada. Thank you to Capital One, Rotary International, Healthy Beginnings and Bent Arrow Traditional Healing Society for their initial funding support of the launch of this program in Canada. And to our on the ground partners in Atlantic Canada: Dartmouth Family Centre in Dartmouth Nova Scotia, Community Education Network in Stephenville, Newfoundland and We’koqma’q Health Center in Whycocomagh, Nova Scotia for their commitment and support for ensuring the continuing success of this program. For additional information about The Imagination Library, please direct all inquiries to 1.866.658.1254. About the Program It sounds almost too simple to be true, but by reading regularly to your newborn and throughout those critical first five years of development, you are giving your child a significant advantage toward a successful education, and ultimately an improved quality of life. And as important, the relationship you experience with your child will be enriched by having shared these reading moments together, right from the beginning. Imagine every child born in Canada signed up to receive a free book a month from birth until their fifth birthday. Imagine communities supporting each other to make that happen. Imagine how this might create literacy and love of learning in those children once they arrive at school. Imagine how this might enrich the relationship between parent and newborn, as reading becomes a shared and wondrous way to connect with your child. | | See How You Can Bring The Imagination Library to Your Community |

There are two models for the program. The model we are launching with is as follows: The Imagination Library program in Canada is open to families with a newborn (0-12 months). Once a community commits to the program, and is able to secure the funding for ALL newborns in their community, every enrolled newborn will receive a free, age-appropriate book each month from the time the child is registered for the program until he or she turns five. If a community is interested in providing this program to ALL children 0-5 in their community, and can secure funding to support the annual growth of the program, this program is available.
